Just Cannot Be Bothered

leave a comment »

Citizens cannot be bothered to become involved in managing the nation.

They leave it to politicians and government workers.

The result is all the issues facing the nation.

Issues that have existed for decades.

Not that citizens would be any better at managing the nation.

Citizens are responsible for electing intelligent, analytical and fact based managers to run the nation.

They have failed.

Much of the failure stems from “cannot be bother to become involved”.

ISSUE — POVERTY

leave a comment »

Poverty is being poor, lack of sufficient income to meet ones needs.

Estimates of the number of people in poverty range between 40 and 50 million.

Over 40 million people are on food stamps.

People should not have to live in poverty.

Poverty is a leading cause of health problems and health care costs.

Poverty is a never ending cycle.

Much of the responsibility for their poverty is with the people themselves.

Politicians and government are also to blame.

Increasing welfare programs is not the solution.

Neither is raising the minimum wage.

A comprehensive plan is needed to end poverty in America.

Roads and Bridges

leave a comment »

Politicians and the news media keep saying the roads and bridges need updating, repairs and replacements.

Trump has endorsed an increase in the gas tax for this.

Yes, some roads and bridges need maintenance.

An increase in the gas tax is not the answer.

The solution is simple.

Improve the efficiency, efficacy and cost benefit of the spending of gas tax revenues.

There is more than enough gas tax revenue to take care of all road and bridge maintenance.

With the appropriate improvements in the spending of gas tax revenues, gas tax rates could be substantially reduced.

But it will never happen.

It would mean a shift of money and power from politicians and government workers to citizens.

Citizens need to become involved in their government.

They should demand bridges and road be maintained and a reduction in the gas tax rate.

Force corrupt and incompetent politicians to manage the nation better.
