Why Democracy Was Supposed to Be a Panacea

leave a comment »

Democracy was supposed to cure all the evils of government.

Why was this believed?

Giving everyone a vote/voice would get them involved and make government “fair” and “equal’.

—  Prevent the concentration of political power in the hands of the “elites”

—  The people would control the politicians and thus the government

—  Eliminate corruption

—  Make government efficient and efficacious

—  Remove the yoke of government from the necks of the people

Has the democratic form of government done any of the above?

The facts no one wants to read.

Comments and referrals to this blog would be greatly appreciated.
